About our Early Parenting Centre
The Waverley Early Parenting Centre, formerly named the “Mother Baby Unit” is situated within the hospital’s main building and backs onto the picturesque Scotchmans Creek. The modern unit offers 6 luxurious private suites and an evidence based, 5-night residential program for parents who are experiencing challenges with their infants aged between 2 weeks to 24 months.
The centre is designed to give parents support to address challenges including;
- Feeding difficulties
- Infant sleeping problems
- Unsettled/Irritable infants
- Reflux and colic
- Maternal exhaustion
- Adjusting to parenthood
Our experienced team provides personalised, family centered care tailored to individual needs, and includes:
- Registered Nurses/Enrolled Nurses
- Lactation consultants
- Mother Craft Nurses
- Clinical Psychologists
- Paediatricians
Located in Melbourne’s South Eastern Suburbs, the Waverley Early Parenting Centre happily accommodates parents from any Melbourne suburb and all parts of Victoria and interstate.
The Program
The Early Parenting Centre inpatient program is an intensive 5-night program delivered at Waverley Private Hospital. During your stay, nursing staff are available to review your progress and provide support throughout the program, offering compassionate, hands-on help as required.
On arrival you and your infant will be admitted to the Early Parenting Centre under the care of an experienced General Practitioner or Paediatrician who will be available throughout your stay. In addition, Psychologists and Paediatricians are available on a consultancy basis if required.

Individualised program - Our team will work with you to establish an individualised program, including an age appropriate routine, for daily care for your infant. We are flexible, recognising that your program will need review and you and your partner/carer will have ongoing support from our team.
